Three anglers fishing the same spawning flat in Lake Cataouatche occupied the Top 3 positions after day 1 of the Bassmaster Classic at the Louisiana Delta. Aaron Martens is on top with 20-07, followed by Scott Rook with 19-06 and Kevin VanDam with 19-03.

They were trailed by Brent Chapman (18-00) and Bobby Lane (16-12) – two of the large contingent who made the long run to Venice despite fog that delayed the launch for more than an hour.

The remainder of the Top 10 consists of Oklahoma Federation Nation qualifier Dale Hightower (15-09), Cliff Pace (15-07), Todd Faircloth (15-02), Skeet Reese (15-01) and Paul Elias (14-13).
